Caution: Long Post Ahead: What?! A Legend of Zelda Movie? Is this a Joke? Is this like the prank IGN did in April Fools? Nop! Ladies and gentlemen this is actually a true full feature film based of the Legend of Zelda. However, don’t let this fool you, it may be a full feature film, but it is still a fan-made movie, which means they didn’t had no budget (or a very small budget) to create the movie. I was able to catch this movie and now I finally write you this review of it. Because, I think the time spent on this movie deserves a little attention.

The movie was released about three weeks ago,  after years of working on it. The first glimpse of it was made three years ago, with a small trailer showing Link, Zelda, among others. Now, they finally were able to release it for public viewing, but Nintendo contacted them and they had to take down the movie.

The movie looks to be centered around the game “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” and we get to see many of our favorite characters like, Saria, Zelda, Link, Ganondorf, etc.  However, like every other movie based on something, you need to tell yourself that this is different and should not compare it with the game. You will get disappointed if you do. Another thing to remember is that this is not like your Hollywood movie, so don’t expect amazing special effects, acting, etc. This movie ain’t no Avatar or Clash of the Titans (2010 version).

In my honest opinion, for a movie that was fan-made, it was pretty good. There were some parts that I was skeptical about, but if you get the chance to see it let me know what you thought of it. The one thing that I liked the most is that Link actually talked! *laughs* I can’t tell you how many times I wish in the game the character would talk already. The story could be followed pretty easily, but I found myself struggling in some parts where I wish it would have been like the game and not be changed — I kept telling myself to view it differently as if I never knew what the game was --.  The special effects were pretty good, for what it was, and the acting as well. There were some people that could have used a little bit more acting lessons. However, if you are like me --  that gets WAYY into the movies — then you will find yourself doing fighting with the characters throughout the movie. The movie had some humor and quite the violence (a guy got his head chopped off!) But overall I think it is a great step forward and maybe it gave that boost people need to start thinking about making an actual Legend of Zelda movie  (and hopefully don’t butcher it!) with awesome special effects and great storyline. If you can find this movie and watch it, make sure you watch it and give these guy the credit they deserve. They dared to do something and in the end it will get you entertained. If you do get the chance to watch it, let me know your comments on it. Remember! Keep an open mind! Best to all of those who worked on the movie. You can visit the movie’s official website here. And if you are wondering what was that ING thing I said in the beginning here is the trailer for you:
