The Giant Ipod!

Apple iPad

The wait is over!!! The Giant iPod is here! Oh! Sorry… my mistake, the “iPad”. Today, I think Apple made a fool of themselves by showcasing a giant iPhone as a next-gen Tablet PC. Many waited over the hype of what would be the next move of Apple in order to take control of many industries and many were disappointed — myself included –. I remember hearing about it a few months back that Apple would launch a new tablet PC that was all touch. I was impressed and wanted to see what this new piece of hardware would do. However, I think the photoshopped images that circulated around were more appealing than today’s announcement.

Get this. The gadget is basically a giant iPhone! or iPod Touch (since it doesn’t have camera, nor can make calls). It runs the iPhone OS system and all the apps for the iphone work on this device.. the Difference? The size! Instead of watching it in a tiny 3 inch screen, you get to watch it in a 9.7 inch screen! However, in every other matter it is still the same as an iPhone or iPod. Some of the non-existent features are among not having a camera, you can’t change the battery, it STILL can’t play Flash Websites, etc. However, is not all bad in this new reveal because they also showcased a new app called “iBooks” (Gee..How original) Basically is an e-reader in order to compete with the Kindle. However, it still does the same; except it looks fancier.

One good thing came out of this and it was the name and how it was used. The first joke to hit twitter was a trending topic named: “iTampon”. I bursted out laughing and had to say what it would be its punchline: “The iTampon… a great gift for the girl in need!” Also a fan page was created and quickly began gaining fans called: “The iPad is just a massive iPod

If you want one the 16GB model, it will cost you $499 with ONLY Wi-Fi! If you want it with a 3G connectivity, then you have two options. First, buy a USB 3G drive to plug it in for $60 + $29.99/month (for the unlimited data plan) or you can get one with 3G integrated for $629+ $29.99/month (unlimited AT&T Data Plan). Now, would you get one? This brings me back to when the MacBook Air was released; it was a waste of time and basically you were burning $1299 for a laptop that need to be connected to everything in order to just “do” something. What are your thoughts on this epic FAIL?

  1. All that Apple wants is your money. they don’t care that their stuff is compatible with many internet apps. giant iphone and still no flash support. a laptop is far better and more practical than this “thing”
